s India moves into sixty sixth year of Independence, a special edition audio-dvd pack featuring newage avatar of the iconic National Song “Vande Mataram” was launched by none other than Shri
M.K.Narayanan,Hon’able Governor of West Bengal on Wednesday.The album,composed by world renowned music maestro Bickram Ghosh,and executed by some of the country’s best musicians,was unveiled at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan and attended by luminaries from varied fields.
The evening saw some breathtaking performances for the benefit of the elite gathering.The invocation dance by special children from the NGO Anjika was greatly appreciated by the distinguished guests.This was followed by an introductory song by Ustad Rashid Khan and Kaushiki Deshikan,who also feature in the album “Vande Mataram”.The highlight of the evening was Bickram’s own performance “Desh” in his inimitable distinct style and his signature music composition—Rhythmscape.
About the album “Vande Mataram”
Infusing a feeling of patriotism and national pride,the album includes vocals by Sonu Nigam,Ustad Rashid Khan,Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty,Shankar Mahadevan,Sunidhi Chauhan,Shubha Mudgal,Roop Kumar Rathod,Mahalakshmi Iyer,Indian Ocean band,Palash Sen(Euphoria),Shaan,Kaushiki Desikan and Manoj Tiwari,along with Amaan Ali Khan(Sarod),Kamal Sabri(Sarangi),Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt(Mohanveena),Niladri Kumar(Zitar),Ganesh and Kumaresh(Violins),Pandit Ronu Majumdar(Flute),Rajhesh Vaidhya(Veena),and Bickram Ghosh(Tabla,Kanjeera,Percussions).
The six-minute song blooms into a video beautifully directed and shot by filmmaker Girish Malik,capturing the raw and earthy sights and sounds of Indian villages,greens,cliffs and valleys with “Vande Mataram” chant in the air.The album has presented by Mr VK Srivastava and Veecon Foundation.
