Bratya Basu new chairperson of the TMC education cell

KOLKATA: Education minister Bratya Basu has been appointed as the chairperson of Trinamool Congress Education cell. The decision was taken on Sunday by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjeewho after holding a meeting with the former chairman and President of the cell along with others decided to revamp the Education cell.

The nine member team comprises MP and railway minister Mukul Roy, industries minister Partha Chatterjee, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien among others. "The former chairman and secretary are holding important administrative positions in the government.

Hence, it will be difficult for both to carry on with the development and functioning of the education cell. CM has taken the decision to appoint Bratya Basu as the new chairman. The nine member board too has been revamped," said industries minister Partha Chatterjee on Sunday. "This is a core committee to look into the activity of the organization or co-ordinate the activities of 3 different teacher's organizations and one non-teaching staff organizations under TMC which are the West Bengal College and University Professor's Association, West Bengal Secondary and Higher Secondary Teacher's Organisation, West Bengal Primary

Teacher's Organisation and Non teaching employees of college and universities. I was the chairman of the education cell of TMC. We were not advisors but organisers. Since now we are over burdened with administrative work, the different organizations have been formed. The core committee will now function as advisors and not organizers," former chairperson of the education cell Manik Chattacharyya said.
