CM pays tribute to Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy at Writers' on his birth anniversary
August 02, 2012
2012 brings back into our memory of the golden era of Bengal Renaissance. It is very satisfying as well as inspiring to find that a number of illustrious personalities born in the soil of Bengal are being remembered on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversaries. We are celebrating the 150th birth anniversaries of Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore, Dwijendra Lal Roy and Swami Vivekananda.
Today is the day to pay our respectful tribute to Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy- a great academician, chemist and founder of Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals ' India's first pharmaceutical company. The young generation scientists, scholars and academicians have much to learn from the ideals and works of Shri Roy. His contribution would no doubt set an example to the young generation that their talents can be unfolded in the soil of Bengal itself, instead of joining the bandwagon of 'brain-drain'. Imbibing his life and the scientific mission he stood for, will be our true tribute to Shri P.C. Roy on this day.
As I began my message, I would end saying with conviction that Bengal will definitely see a new Renaissance again. The present young generation is fortmate to witness the celebrations of galaxy of our great personalities in various literary, cultural scientific and philosophical fields. Their lives and works are a fountain of inspirations to all of our youth and students to re-establish the
'lost glory of Bengal'.
It is my belief I wish to cherish. And you all have the potential to prove it right.
