85 Morcha leaders took oath in GTA swearing ceremony
GTA swearing ceremony took place in Darjeeling where 85 Morcha leaders took their oath along with their chief Mr Bimal Gurung as the first GTA’s Chief Executive. The oath conducted by His Excellency Governor MK Narayan who administers the oath to Gurung. The event was graced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Union Home Minister Sree Sushil Kumar Shinde, and local MP BJP leader Sree Yaswant Sinha.
While addressing in the occasion the newly elected Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde told that he is overwhelmed as Mamata Banerjee has herself called and invited him for the event and he feels great to be part of the GTA swearing ceremony. He further praised Banerjee and her government for restoring peace in the Hills and assured that center would provide all sorts of cooperation and help to State Government to foster all round development in the state. He told that GTA leaders have to shoulder greater responsibilities and had to work together with state government to foster development in Hills.
In this regard Chief Minister told that through GTA her government has ensured the process of development in the hills and in this regard her government is fully committed. Banerjee declared that state government is coming up with bunch of developmental project in the hills which will be implemented through GTA leadership. She announced that government will set ITI and Polytechnic colleges in Darjeeling so that local people from Gorkha and other community can get job oriented training. She said all state hospitals in the hills will be upgraded with modern facilities and government will soon set up a small University in the hills along with various employment generation programs. She said special focus would be given to foster tourism in the hill and her government has already started working in this regard.
