New Delhi: The Bangalore Police on Sunday arrested another man from the city in connection with the ongoing terror-related arrests. Mohammad Akram, 22, was arrested as he tried to flee the city on Saturday night, the police said.
The police added that extra security measures were in place to ensure the state's safety.
The police said it had recovered a pistol and cartridges from Akram and that he had been to Saudi Arabia along with the other accused.
It further said that according to preliminary investigation, two of the eleven men who were arrested on Thursday on charges of suspected terror links, had met ISI operatives in Pakistan, and that they had gone there via Iran.
The total number of arrests in the case has now gone up to 17.
Eleven people were arrested from Bangalore on Thursday. Two days later, a student was arrested in Hyderabad and four others were arrested from Nanded in Maharashtra.
The government has said that the module was planning to strike defence and nuclear establishments in the country and that the entire conspiracy had been hatched in Saudi Arabia.
