UPA goes for makeover drive, to launch Bharat Nirman ads

New Delhi: Amidst the crisis being faced by the government after the withdrawal of the support by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, the UPA has decided to go for makeover drive.
In a bid to overhaul the image of the government, the UPA has sanctioned as much as Rs 100 crore for Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) advertisements for radio, television and print.
Sources have said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked for an aggressive showcasing of the government.
The government will reportedly come up with Bharat Nirman advertisements and local artistes will be used for them for specific states. Noted singer Kailash Kher has also been roped in for the same.
According to sources, there will also be attempts by the government to counter social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook.
