New Delhi: Even as the UPA government becomes a minority government after the Trinamool Congress's exit, it has been maintaining that it has the numbers and is under no threat. The Congress is now putting together its strategy to maintain its stronghold at the government.
Sources say the Congress will play the secular card and reach out to the JD(U) and the BJD. Sources say the Congress will also reach out to YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy and the Left Front for support and to make sure these parties do not vote against the government.
But Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party still hold the key as their support puts the government in a comfortable position. But the Congress insists that even without the support of SP and BSP, it has the numbers.
Sources have told that the government is ready for a trust vote, but a special session is unlikely. The trust vote may only happen in the winter session of Parliament
