After ruckus, Nitish Kumar threatens teachers

Contractual teachers today created noisy scenes at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's public meeting in Darbhanga district which provoked him to warn the protesters to refrain from such activities or else his supporters would deal with them.
As soon as he started his speech during the 'Adhikar Sammelan' here to explain the need for grant of special category status, about 50-60 contractual teachers raised slogans and displayed placards raising their demand for regularisation of service.
Kumar, who is facing similar protest at all his public meetings since embarking on the 'Adhikar Yatra' on September 19 last, lost his cool and slammed the protesters for habitually disrupting his meetings.
"Your (protesters) misconduct has caused embarrassment to me," he said.
"I was criticised earlier for recruiting bulk of contractual teachers to improve primary education and in the bargain given employment to large number of educated unemployed youths," Kumar said.
He warned the contractual teachers against refraining from disruption of his 'Adhikar Sammelans' in the districts and said that they will not be spared if his supporters were to take law in their hands to deal with handful of protesters.
Peeved at the frequent protests by the contractual teachers, the Chief Minister said that he would not consider their demands at all if it was placed for his consideration.
On the special status demand, Kumar said that the grant of special status to Bihar was imperative for industrial development as private investors would then in large numbers invest their capital to set up industrial units generating large-scale employment opportunity for the youth.

The grant of special status will also spare adequate financial resources at the disposal of the state government which will utilize the funds for launching more development and welfare schemes, the Chief Minister said.
He asked the people to turn up at the 'Adhikar rally' in Patna on November four next to make the event a grand success so that the authorities in New Delhi were compelled to accord the special status to Bihar.
"If the Centre did not listen to the voice of the people of Bihar even after November four rally, then the JD(U) will organise an agitation in New Delhi next year to press for the special status demand", he said.
