BJP: Thackeray can’t decide our PM nominee

The top leadership of the BJP in Maharashtra on Monday asserted that Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray cannot decide the prime ministerial candidate of the NDA.
The BJP leaders are visibly irked with Sena’s design to create a wedge within their party by recommending Sushma Swaraj’s name for the PM candidate in the 2014 elections. The BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who is abroad, held discussions with a couple of party leaders from the state unit over telephone to ascertain Thackeray’s statement.
Sources in the BJP said, “The core group of the party has decided not to overreact to Thackeray statement.”
Officially, leader of the opposition in state legislature council Vinod Tawde said, “The formal decision of who should be the next PM candidate will be taken after the 2014 Parliament elections.”
The state unit of the BJP feels a section within the Sena is indulging in mischief to create a rift between Gadkari and Sushma by making such statements. The BJP admits, “The relationship between Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray and Gadkari is not very cordial. As a result, often the conflict between Sena and BJP on matters related to Maharashtra politics has been apparent."
