Delhi: 4 cases of domestic abuse in 24 hours, 3 women dead

New Delhi: Three women were found dead in the capital over the past 24 hours in three separate cases of suspected dowry harassment. In a fourth incident, a woman in Najafgarh suffered 90 per cent burns after her husband allegedly set her on fire, again for dowry. The victim is currently recuperating in hospital.
The first death was reported from Vivek Vihar after a 27-year-old fell to her death from the third floor of her house. While her in-laws claimed that she committed suicide, the woman's family said that she was murdered.
Meanwhile, in Dwarka, an MCD school teacher was found dead. The police suspect it to be suicide, the family, however, alleges foul play.
In yet another incident, in the MS Park area, a 28-year-old woman was found dead. Her family alleged that her in-laws had been harassing them with demands for dowry of Rs 5 lakh.
No arrests have been made in any of the cases so far.
