`I know you all are feeling uncomfortable to stand in this scorching heat. I thank you for coming to listen to me. While coming here I was overwhelmed to see the large gathering. I too have traveled far distance to reach here just to meet you, interact with you. As always I have brought Writers` Building alongwith me and I assure you development in the area and this exactly what I told the administrative officials during the meeting I had with them before coming to meet you`, said West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who is presently on a four-day-district visit.
Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who began her second leg of the district-review-meetings with the visit to Barasat has already covered North Bengal and Jangalmahal during the past few months. She reached Krishnanagar and stayed at the District circuit house on Tuesday night. Ms. Banerjee convened a district-review-meeting in the morning and interacted with the officials.
Chief Minister addressed a huge gathering at Krisnanagar Stadium and announced nearly 37 news projects. Chief Minister on this occasion distributed Kisan Credit Cards, Patta, Samajik Mukti Card, scholarship to meritorious students and bicycles to minority girl students. `I have come to you and want you to listen carefully as I have brought a series of packages and if you make noise then you will miss what I say, I am sure you are also eager to hear what I have for you`, smiled Chief Minister who reiterated her stand to develop the districts, `I want to develop my districts as they are also very special to me and it is due to this that I carry the Secretariat along with me`.
Chief inaugurated six ground based water supply projects located under Karimpur-I block (3 Nos), Krishnanagar, Santipur and Ranaghat. She also laid the foundation stone of Mirmadan-Mohanlal Polytechnic College to be constructed at Plassey. It may be interesting to know that both Mirmadan and Mohonlal were the two brave lieutenants of Nawab Sirazudaulah who fought bravely in the historical battle of Plassey in 1757 against the British.
`I request you all irrespective of your educational qualifications to enroll yourself with the Employment Banks. You may have studied up to fourth standard or even less but please do not hesitate to enroll your names as you may have expertise in repairing television or in some other fields`, said Chief Minister who at the same time instructed the welfare offices across districts and villages to make sure that the project gets success. `I want all the development offices and officials to take stock of the candidates and also educate them about the Employment Bank`, added Ms. Banerjee. `I am concerned about the unemployment situation as the Left Front government never even bothered to create a work culture in the state but I will not accept this and will ensure that youth get employment` She requested private sectors to provide the information at the grassroots level so that all the candidates can visit the centres and check the list, `I would also request them to provide a copy of the vacancy to these banks, let the private sector advertise and select candidates as per their norms but if they pass the information then at least we can inspire the unemployed youth to prepare for these positions in private sector`, added Ms. Banerjee.

Chief Minister said that Nadia has a great possibility for tourism and there are plans to develop certain places of historical importance like Plassey and Gour etc in Nadia district into tourism destinations. West Bengal Chief Minister announces two-bottling-plants at Haringhata and Kaliganj. She also reiterates her stand to develop Nadia and adjoining areas into textile hubs, `There are immense possibility to develop textile industry in Nadia, we have Phullia known for its sarees and textiles and this is why we want to build a textile hub here`, said Chief Minister. She said that those who are employed in Jute business will also get assistance from government and Jute industry. `We want the Jute industry to flourish in the state as there so many artisans especially in Burdwan, Murshidabad, Behrampore, Nadia to grow with Jute and I assure you all the assistance that you will require`, added Chief Minister.
`I am concerned and aggrieved over the poor roads. We have called a representative of the National Highway Authority and he will be having a detailed discussion with my Chief Secretary as I want to resolve this issue immediately. We are doing what ever possible in the state and I am myself following the working of this office but here we are bound by protocol. We could have done it ourselves but we are bound by protocols as this comes under the Central Government`, added an aggrieved Chief Minister. Apart from that Chief Minister reiterated her stand to give rice two-rupees a kilo to the labours of the tea gardens.
`Please avail of these projects as I want you to be financially safe and I know if you enroll with these banks then you will find an employment, however you will inform us after getting an employment and the name will be deleted since we will have to accommodate the new candidates`, added Ms. Mamata Banerjee.
