A Maoist was arrested on Sunday from Midnapore Central Bus Stand and was remanded in 14 days judicial custody. District officials said Gouranga Mahato was involved in two murder cases in 2010 at Pirakata jungle in West Midnapore. SP of West Midnapore Sunil Chowdhury confirmed Mahato’s arrest but refused to divulge further details. Meanwhile, security forces arrested a Maoist cadre from Sarenga area of Bankura district. Biswajit Hansda, against whom several cases of murder and extortion were pending, has been remanded in police custody for 14 days by Khatra sub-divisional court
