CPM leader Subrata Sengupta’s son, Shayan Sengupta, who was arrested on Sunday in connection with making pornographic films at a Telipukur flat in Dum Dum along with four others, was sent to five days in police custody. His two accomplices — Saurav Chakrabarty and Debrup Sengupta — and two Bangladeshi girls were, however, granted bail by a court in Barrackpore.
Police said Shayan was involved in such activities for the last three years and inquiries have revealed that girls from Nepal and Thailand were also brought over for making porn videos.
The police, who had been keeping a close watch on the group for quite some time, raided his flat early on Sunday morning and seized video cameras, laptops and other equipment. While being taken to a court, the Bangladeshi girls said they were “paid to do such acts.”
Police said Shayan used to take girls to different locations like Digha and other tourist spots to shoot videos. “We are looking into all the aspects of the case,’’ said Prabir Chatterjee, Inspector In-Charge of Dum Dum police station said.
The locals were the first to become suspicious of Shayan’s activities when they saw girls coming and leaving his flat at odd hours.
