Bengal govt forms GoM for industrial investment policy

Kolkata, Aug 16 (PTI) The West Bengal government has formed a panel of Group of ministers (GoM) to formulate a new industrial investment policy for the state, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said today. "We will announce a new industrial investment policy for the state. A GoM panel has been formed comprising Finance Minister Amit Mitra, Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee, Labour Minister Purnendu Bose and Panchayat and PHE Minister Subrata Mukherjee," she told reporters after the Cabinet meeting here. She said the panel would give its report in 15 days and then send it to Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure for clearance. The new policy would also consist of a software policy and an NRI policy, the Chief Minister said. Banerjee said a decision had also been taken to set up two deep sea ports, in Sagar and Rasulpur. Banerjee said global tenders would be floated for both of the them, adding that the one at Rasulpur would be built on PPP basis. The government had also taken a decision to set up a market for tiny and cottage industry products on 150 acres o land near Santiniketan at Bolpur in Birbhum district. For the tea garden workers, she said the government would build homes for them and also 100 days work when they were rendered jobless due to closure.
